Providing Business Coaching for Athletes and Small Business Owners
Getting sidelined by illness or injury doesn't just happen in sport.
It happens in life.
I've been working 12-15 hour days for almost 3 years: building a second business from scratch, working part time at Costco just for the insurance, and adding another job this past month, has been exhausting.
While the new job is much more aligned with me and KBBC, it's not quite enough to allow me to leave Costco and their insurance plan.
CONUNDRUM!
And this week, I have been down for the count with a cold/sinus infection that just won't quit.
Sometimes, life forces you to PAUSE; to THINK; to REGROUP.
Just because I have lost my voice, doesn't mean I have to lose my mind.
Although, at times, I have felt like I have. Can you relate?
As an entrepreneur, you don't have sick days. Your clients still need you. And you still have to bring in income to pay the bills.
So how do you "Slow down to speed up?" - I talk about this concept in my book and I have been practicing it this week.
"What if I did the opposite of what I have been doing the past three years just for the next 48 hours?"
And here is what I did instead of "the grind":
- Cancelled all meetings except for a therapy/mindset meeting;
- Called in sick from Costco one day and left early on 2 other days;
- Informed my new boss that I was ill and he graciously took training days off of my calendar this week;
- Cried - yes, being human is something we all forget to do;
- Reached out to my closest people to ask for support and listening ears;
- Worked on projects that didn't require face to face interaction: (preparing presentations, writing newsletters, answering emails, updating my resume and one sheet, applying to different job opportunities);
- Grounded and centered myself with lots of tea, guided meditations, naps, and writing;
- Ignored social media (I have actually done this for a full 72 hours so far--I might go a bit longer.)
The Big Question
When you take time to pause, or as in my case, are FORCED to pause, you focus on the MIT's (Most Important Things) to take care of yourself.
This leads us to finding the bigger questions (and potentially better solutions) to our issues we are facing.
My BIG question is "How do I find bigger and better opportunities to a) leave Costco, b) and focus on what I love?" which is helping clients with ever changing life experiences, building strategic partnerships in and out of sport, and living with a purpose and passion to help people and businesses grow.
What is YOUR big question that you need assistance with?
- Are you burning out?
- Are you feeling lost and unsure of your next steps?
- Are you finding yourself unmotivated and in "analysis paralysis" about your work?
- Were you recently laid off?
- Do you or your business feel "stuck" or like you are sinking?
- Asking yourself, "Now what?" or "What else is there?"
Who do you know that would benefit from a conversation with me?
Do you know of a company seeking someone with business development and sales expertise, a passion for helping others, and loves learning and development?
